 Spring Manufacturers of S.A. was established in 1973 and is one of the world’s leading spring manufacturers. The dedicated team provides the utmost efficiency and skill in design, manufacturing, quality, service and delivery, and is committed to provide leading edge technology in all aspects of spring manufacturing.
The company manufactures all types of springs from all available materials, the more common raw materials in our inventory being Spring Steel, Music Wire, Stainless Steel 302, 304, and Phosphor Bronze.
Emil Maritsch, Quality Management Representative (QMR) told us, “Spring Manufacturers of South Africa cc has been working to ISO 9000:1994 since 1998 and we found it very advantageous in all aspects of our business. We did not seek Certification because for a small company such as ours, it was too expensive and a long process. Our customers urged us to get Certification but were satisfied after carrying out their own audit on our company. This of course is an added expense to our customers, as they have to send out their own Quality Auditor. Therefore, we were always on the lookout for a cost efficient Certification authority to unburden our customers.
Then in 2006, we read about IMSM and QAS, and found their offer very interesting. We called in their representative and found the offer irresistible.
Well, to cut a long story short, Martin Stallwood the Certified Lead Auditor came and put us on the path. Within seven (7) months, we had our Certification for ISO 9001:2000, without sacrificing any holidays or burning candles in the night.
At this point, we must thank Martin for his valuable input and encouragement throughout this process.
We have been in the spring manufacturing business since 1973 and the present owners since 1987. The business has 35 employees and very modern CNC-Spring Machines, hence the small staff. Having a tight knit operation, it is essential to have a Quality Management System such as ISO 9001.
Benefits of ISO 9001:2000
Since we implemented ISO 9001 we have been on the “Preferred Suppliers List”. Rejects Internal or External were not recorded- but with ISO they are and the business becomes more cost efficient. The savings are huge, up to 10% of turnover.
We would recommend IMSM and QAS to any company and give it an “AAA” RATING.”
