Set to give business a lift
Crowland Cranes has served the building and construction industry
since 1987. The business has continued to expand over the years
and now offers a wide range of cranes for sale to customers both
in the UK and overseas. The company also provides crane hire - primarily
within a 60-mile radius of their headquarters in Crowland to the
north east of Peterborough, although for the larger capacity cranes
they do operate further afield. They have also built a good reputation
for providing international engineering services, and are insurance
approved repairers for the crane and plant industry. In 1998, Crowland
Cranes added a further string to their bow when TMC Lifting Supplies
became part of the limited company, offering the nationwide supply
and testing of lifting equipment, such as slings, hoist and wire
ropes.
Today,
employing a 40-strong workforce, this forward thinking firm is meeting
the needs of a wide range of customers around the UK, including
construction companies, marinas and boatyards, as well as international
crane operators.
Recognising the reassurance that ISO certification brings, Crowland
Cranes achieved ISO 9001 status in April 2005. TMC Manager Phil
Phillips, who is responsible for the company's quality management
system, told us:
"The general help, patience and guidance from our IMSM Assessor,
Geoff Read, was much appreciated in what was a long process, having
been put on hold for a year and then restarted.
"Of course, it's still early days as far as seeing an increase
in sales due to ISO certification, but having implemented the procedures
and practices necessary to meet the audit, we have already noticed
that our ISO system is delivering efficiency benefits, for instance,
regarding the movement of paperwork.
"More and more we are finding that Building and Construction
companies are asking for certification - not just with ISO but also
the Health and Safety aspects of the work we undertake. Obviously
being ISO certified creates an aura of confidence in the Company
as a whole, this often negates the need for proof of workmanship
and Quality Control Procedures within the Company."
