Teemane Manufacturing in Botswana has just achieved the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management, ISO9001, with the help of international systems experts IMSM.
When your business is buying rough diamonds, and polishing them, for sale to retail and wholesale customers around the world, you need a carefully controlled and standardized system of working. Teemane Manufacturing already worked to best practice standards, but decided to pursue ISO9001 to formalise their procedures to an even higher level.
With some 350 employees, and 15 years’ experience of operating in a remote location, the company needed stringent procedures to supply their range of international customers. Having had a positive experience of IMSM in South Africa, through associated company Wesselton, Manager Mervin Lifshitz was confident they could deliver.
He said, “Achieving ISO9001 has certainly helped us formalise our methods of working, put a lot of processes in place for our on-going operation, and given us increased confidence in our ways of working. Now we have full manuals in place, increased efficiency, and a process for continuous improvement, so that we can update easily. I contacted IMSM because I knew they were a good fit with us, and knew how they worked, keeping it simple and with the minimum of disruption- in fact, I never looked anywhere else!”
